Han föddes i Løten år 1863 och var sedan verksam i över 60 år. Många av hans verk inspirerades av existentiella, tidlösa teman som melankoli, svartsjuka och ångest. Detta gör hans konst lika aktuell idag som för 125 år sedan. Men Munch hämtade inte bara inspiration från sin plågade själ.
